1.5” x 1.5” Measuring target.

A common characteristic of fieldmeters is the field of view of the probe. For accuracy, the target size of the item under measurement should be a square with sides three to four times the measuring distance from the probe to the surface under test. Fieldmeters calibrated for 1” measurement distances are accurate on target sizes 4” x 4”.  Most hand held fieldmeters are calibrated at a 1” measurement distance.
The Model 282M is calibrated for a measurement distance of 1 cm. It’s ideal target then is 4cm x 4cm or 1.5” x 1.5”.  This meter is ideal for accurate measurements on smaller target items.

Accuracy has never come so easily or inexpensively. Converging beams from two LEDs tell you when the instrument is precisely 1 centimeter from the  target, so reading is an exact indication of the static field being measured, up to ±20 kV. The Model 282M also features a HOLD button to freeze display and  automatic polarity detection. The chopper-stabilized design guarantees accurate readings even in ionized environments.
